In addition, I paint murals. Worked over Christmas to complete four murals. The fifth pic is of another mural I did over the summer for the same project. . Took the school’s core values and created phrases that encourage those values. Created an overarching theme for the design now and going forward. Designed in Adobe and then used a lot of masking tape. Each one is between 18-22 feet across. The one in the stairwell was problematic being 6-16 feet off the ground. Scaffolding was a major pain. . Plan to add more later. . . . #artstagram #instaart #painting #mural #murals #highschool #kind #inclusive #relationships #exchangeideas #learn #innovate #wall #yellow #blue #sunburst

Personal connection to art. This detail from one of the two Eugene Savage murals in Fair Park's Hall of State which tell the narrative of the founding of Texas depicts the Long Expedition, the first attempt at setting up an independent republic. The group fought for independence from 1819 to 1821 when the last 50 men were taken prisoner and transferred to Mexico City. My great grandmother's great grandfather (John McHenry) was one of those depicted. Upon release he returned to South Texas and served as the first Chief Justice of Victoria County. And that makes me a 7th generation Texan with an appreciation for murals. #texashistory #hallofstate #fairpark #dallas #eugenesavage #mural #dallasmural #dallasart #art #statefairoftexas

Texas in all its Art Deco glory at the Hall of State at Fair Park in Dallas. The State Fair of Texas has been taking place on the same site since 1886. All of the buildings on site were built at the height of Art Deco in 1936 as part of the Texas Centennial Exposition. There are some real gems hiding behind the corny dogs, funnel cakes and new cars. Making progress. I'll be glazing multiple layers. Each layer effects the perceived color of the layer below. Will eventually add a figurative element to the work. #newart #workinprogress #workinprocess #artworkinprogress #art #oilpainting #oiloncanvas #upcycling #emergingartist #craiggould

Had this Brownie Junior lying around as a still life prop. Figured out how to open it up and found an old roll of exposed 620 film inside. No one within a 12 hour drive who can develop it for me, so sending it off to thedarkroom.com. No idea what I might get back. #browniejunior #kodak #vintage #treasure #vintagecamera #discovery #photography

Detail of new piece in process. Will eventually work with oil, but right now I'm setting a ground. Working on wood panel. Laid in page of random numbers from old blueprints into wet gesso. Happy 84th Birthday to Gerhard Richter. "One has to believe in what one is doing, one has to commit oneself inwardly, in order to do painting. Once obsessed, one ultimately carries it to the point of believing that one might change human beings through painting. But if one lacks passionate commitment, there is nothing left to do. Then it is best to leave it alone. For basically painting is total idiocy." #richter #gerhardrichter #art #artquote #painting
